Gosden: Golden Horn in “Good Order”

Trainer John Gosden has provided an upbeat bulletin on G1 Epsom Derby and G1 Coral-Eclipse S. winner Golden Horn (GB) (Cape Cross {Ire}) ahead of his planned engagement in next Saturday’s G1 Irish Champion S., for which the 3-year-old is the favorite. The Anthony Oppenheimer homebred lost his unbeaten record when going down by a neck to the filly Arabian Queen (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) in the Aug. 19 G1 Juddmonte International, and Gosden reiterated the sophomore will start at Leopardstown if the going isn’t too soft.

“We’re looking forward to running; he’s in good order,” Gosden said. “I’d just like to see good, or good to soft ground, that’ll be fine. Leopardstown does drain very well, which is a big help. It’s a good track from that point of view.”
